SLH & Co. | Bookkeeper Kent work with a number of local companies, assisting with the day to day bookkeeping work, year end preparation, as well as a number of services designed with small businesses in mind.

Being a local company ourselves, SLH & Co. | Bookkeeper Kent know that companies will require flexibility and we can tailor a package to suit everyone’s requirements.

Year end preparation

As well as being a statutory obligation your annual accounts also offer you the chance to review business performance. You can use your annual accounts to identify aspects of your business that you might want to focus on in the future – both strengths and weaknesses.

We work intimately with companies preparing their accounts and will liaise closely with your accountants to ensure the smooth completion and submission of your annual return.

We have used the information gleaned through compiling client annual accounts to help many of them evolve into successful and thriving companies.

Management accounts

The preparation of management accounts is necessary to assist in making business decisions and will be requested by your accountants, auditors, bankers, Inland Revenue and other third parties. We can prepare management reports on a monthly or quarterly basis.

These reports are prepared in accordance with your policies and requirements.

Our management reports include:

Profit and loss statements
Balance sheets
Variance reports
Accruals & prepayment schedules
Intercompany charges & reconciliations (if appropriate)

VAT returns

If you are registered for VAT, you must keep certain business records and VAT records of your sales and purchases. You must also keep a separate VAT account.

There is no set way of keeping these records and accounts. In most cases, they can be easily adapted from your normal business records. The main thing is to ensure that they are complete and up to date and that it is easy for VAT officers to access them when you have a VAT inspection.

We can help in putting a system in place to ensure that all records are kept correctly. Not only will this help to prevent errors in filing your returns, but will also be of benefit should you be inspected.

Payroll services

For SMEs HR and payroll can seem like a minefield. As the company grows there is a need for effective payroll solutions, but finding payroll services that are tailored to suit smaller businesses can prove difficult as many payroll companies often only offer large — and very expensive — solutions geared towards huge corporations.

At SLH & Co. we provide an efficient and cost effective services geared towards SMEs of all sizes and involved in a multitude of market sectors.

This means that, unlike other payroll companies, we are able to offer customers payroll products tailored to meet their exact requirements, whether they have prior experience in payroll or are looking to implement a payroll system for the first time.
